Israeli Indian restorative health hackathon

We are excited to announce the Indo-Israel Hackathon, a collaborative initiative fostering innovation and technological excellence between India and Israel. This hackathon aims to bring together bright minds from both nations to solve real-world challenges through cutting-edge solutions.
Participants will engage in an intense, high-energy competition, leveraging expertise in AI, cybersecurity, fintech, healthcare, agritech, and more. With mentorship from industry leaders and experts, teams will develop prototypes that can drive impactful change. It unites visionaries, developers, and innovators to redefine the future of technology. The competition unfolds in two stages: first, teams present their ideas, and in the second, they bring their concepts to life in a live demonstration before a panel of judges. With mentorship, collaboration, and cutting-edge innovation, participants will challenge technological limits and unleash their creativity.

Hackathon Themes & Problem Statements

1. Reut Hospital – Enhancing Patient Experience in Restorative Healthcare

The current process for restorative healthcare lacks clarity and coordination, leading to a disjointed patient experience. Key challenges include:

1. Inconsistent Doctor Availability: Patients face uncertainty due to the unbalanced load between doctors and patients, with doctors sometimes unavailable without prior notice.
2. Lack of Professionalism & Guidance: Patients often do not receive timely or clear guidance on the treatment plan or the specific healthcare solutions they need.
3. Poor Communication & Updates: There is no system to provide patients with real-time updates on their treatment progress, prescribed medications, or next steps.
4. Missed Information & Incomplete Treatment: Due to the lack of proper updates and documentation, patients may miss critical instructions or doses, affecting the effectiveness of the overall treatment.

Your challenge:

Design a solution that ensures transparency, consistency, and clear communication in the restorative healthcare journey — empowering patients with real-time updates, treatment clarity, and improved interaction with healthcare providers.

2. Reut hospital – Enhancing Quality of Life for Ventilated Patients

Patients on ventilators are in a highly critical state, often requiring intensive monitoring and care. However, their quality of life during this period is significantly compromised due to multiple factors beyond just the clinical condition. Some of the key challenges include:

1. Restricted Communication: Ventilated patients are often unable to speak or express discomfort, pain, or emotional needs, making it difficult for caregivers to understand their condition beyond vital signs.
2. Lack of Transparency and Updates: Patients and their families may not have access to real-time, understandable updates regarding treatment progress, medication schedules, or recovery plans.
3. Sensory Discomfort: Environmental factors such as excessive noise, bright lights, and continuous machine activity may lead to stress, disorientation, and disrupted rest for patients.
4. Emotional and Psychological Distress: Being in a confined, critical care setting for extended periods, without clear communication or a sense of progress, can lead to anxiety, fear, and a sense of isolation.
5. Personalized Care Gaps: Due to the focus on immediate life support, personalized aspects such as mental stimulation, emotional support, and basic comfort are often deprioritized.

Your challenge:

Design a patient-centric solution that enhances the overall quality of life for ventilated individuals. The solution could focus on improving communication, providing clear and compassionate updates, reducing sensory discomfort, or addressing emotional and psychological well-being — all while supporting caregivers with actionable insights.

3. Silvergenie – Enhancing Caregiver Professionalism and user experience

Caregivers are vital in ensuring the well-being, comfort, and recovery of patients, especially in long-term and home-based care. However, there are several challenges that impact the consistency and quality of care delivered:

1. Lack of Standardized Skillsets: Many caregivers enter the profession with minimal or inconsistent training, resulting in varying levels of competence and patient outcomes.
2. Gaps in Professionalism: Unprofessional behavior, poor time management, and lack of empathy can reduce trust and satisfaction in caregiver-patient relationships.
3. Language and Communication Barriers: In diverse linguistic environments, caregivers often struggle to effectively communicate with patients, which can lead to misunderstandings and emotional disconnect.
4. Limited Access to Upskilling: There is a lack of structured, accessible platforms for caregivers to upgrade their knowledge, learn new techniques, and stay aligned with industry standards.
5. No Unified Framework for Evaluation: The absence of continuous feedback and assessment tools makes it difficult to track caregiver performance and growth.

Your challenge:

Design a solution that elevates the caregiving ecosystem by addressing professionalism, skill development, communication, and continuous learning. Your idea could include digital learning tools, multilingual support systems, caregiver certification pathways, performance tracking, or frameworks for regular upskilling — all aimed at creating a more competent, compassionate, and future-ready caregiver workforce.

4. Physiotherapy Companies – VRSteps

VRSteps has developed an innovative machines that not only applies therapeutic acupressure but also intelligently scans and measures various aspects of the human body. This results in the generation of valuable physiological data during each session. However, this powerful capability is currently underutilized due to the absence of structured systems for insight generation, personalized recommendations, and data integration.

Key Challenges:

1. Raw Data, No Clear Insights: While the machine captures extensive body data, there is no intelligent mechanism to convert it into actionable insights about the individual’s health, stress levels, posture, muscular imbalances, or recovery needs.
2. Lack of Personalization: Each user’s treatment could be greatly improved by tailoring pressure points, session duration, and focus areas based on their body data — but current systems lack this level of customization.
3. No Longitudinal Tracking: There is no ecosystem to track a user’s health metrics and improvements over time, which could be valuable for preventive healthcare or chronic pain management.
4. Missed Integration Opportunities: The data is not yet connected to broader health platforms or used to inform other therapies (e.g., physiotherapy, fitness plans, mental wellness).
5. Low User Awareness: Users are not fully informed about what their data means, and how to take action based on it — limiting the potential impact of the technology.

Your challenge:

Create a solution that transforms body data collected from VRSteps’ acupressure machines into a comprehensive wellness intelligence platform. This could include real-time feedback, progress tracking, AI-powered recommendations, data visualizations, and integration with other health services — enabling users to better understand their bodies and make informed decisions for their physical and mental well-being.

5. Tzora active systems – Gamifying Rehabilitation – Making Recovery Engaging and Personalised

Tzora Active Systems develops advanced rehabilitation devices that assist individuals in regaining mobility in limbs, hands, and legs — helping people walk, move, and function again after injury or paralysis. These devices generate rich movement data during therapy sessions, but the recovery journey often remains repetitive, demotivating, and disconnected from the patient’s emotions and engagement.

Key challenges:

1. Low Motivation & Adherence: Patients often lose interest in routine exercises, especially during long and demanding recovery phases, leading to inconsistent use of therapy devices.
2. Lack of Personalized Engagement: Rehabilitation is not one-size-fits-all. A patient recovering hand movement may need a different motivational and game design compared to someone working on walking again.
3. Unutilized Data: The devices collect real-time movement and performance data, which could be used to design adaptive challenges, but is currently under-leveraged.
4. No Emotional Connect: Traditional therapy lacks fun, rewards, and a sense of achievement — essential for building emotional connection and long-term consistency.

Your challenge:

Design a personalized, game-based rehab experience using data from Tzora’s mobility devices. Build interactive challenges that adapt to a patient’s condition and progress — with rewards, levels, and real-time feedback — to keep recovery engaging, motivating, and consistent.
